SWPS University, originally founded in 1996 as Szkoła Wyższa Psychologii Społecznej (Warsaw School of Social Psychology, SWPS), began as a higher education institution specializing in psychology. Over time, we expanded our academic offering to include a diverse range of disciplines, providing studies across social sciences, humanities, computer studies, and arts and design.
In 2023, the university gained the right to confer doctoral degrees in seven disciplines and was officially recognized as a comprehensive university by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
We are a leading university in Poland that offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in social sciences, humanities, law, design, and computer and information sciences. We believe in lifelong and experiential learning, therefore we constantly expand the range of our graduate certification programs as well as professional and language courses.
By conducting world-class interdisciplinary research, in collaboration with international partners, we actively participate in a global exchange of ideas. We provide our researchers, from doctoral students to experienced scientists, with excellent infrastructure and an environment conducive to personal and professional development, which is reflected by the HR Excellence in Research badge.
One of our strategic goals is to continuously advance the internationalization of research and education, while fostering an organizational culture that is sensitive to cross-cultural differences.
We are members of various international organizations, such as the International Association of Universities, European University Association, European Union of Private Higher Education, and European Council for Doctoral Education, etc.
In 2023, SWPS University joined the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) that includes 8 universities from Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and Spain. ERUA’s goal is to transform research, teaching, and our universities to create a more equitable higher education.
We are a young higher education institution. In just 29 years, we have made great strides in developing our university into a leading center for learning, research, and international collaboration. We are featured in the majority of international academic rankings.
